Qur'an Recitation with Tajweed
Fix your recitation and read the Qur'an with confidence.
About the course
Qur'an Recitation with Tajweed at Bilqalam Institute is a practical course for children and adults who can already read the Qur'an and want their recitation to be correct and properly applied. We don't start by memorizing rules. We start with your recitation: your teacher listens, finds where the mistakes are, and fixes them one rule at a time as you read from the Mushaf, until reciting correctly becomes second nature. The course follows the Madinah Mushaf (Hafs from Asim), in live one-to-one classes, with a report after every class showing what improved and what needs more practice.
How does the course work?
It starts with your own recitation. In the free trial class, the teacher listens to you (or your child) recite and decides which mistakes to tackle first. Live one-to-one classes then follow a clear rhythm: recite, correct, and practice the same spot until it sticks, at times you choose around your schedule. Every class report is saved to your account on the site, showing what has improved and what you're working on.
What will you learn?
In this course you'll learn to apply Tajweed while you read, not just memorize the names of the rules. The focus is on what can be heard in your recitation, and every rule is practiced straight from ayat in the Mushaf. Here's what you'll be able to do:
- Tell apart close sounds like ح and ه, ع and ء
- Make letters heavy or light in the right places
- Apply the rules of noon sakinah, tanween and meem sakinah
- Hold each madd for its proper length
- Get ghunnah and qalqalah sounding right
- Stop and restart without breaking an ayah's meaning
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who reads the Qur'an but stumbles or keeps making mistakes, and wants to read correctly and confidently. You just need to be able to read the letters and vowels, and your teacher starts from wherever you are now.
- Anyone who reads the Qur'an with stumbles or repeated mistakes
- Children who have finished learning to read
- Adults who learned as kids and want to fix their recitation
Who will teach you
This course is taught by male and female teachers who specialize in the Qur'an and Tajweed, and you choose the teacher who suits you or your child. If the fit isn't right, we'll switch teachers at no cost.

Questions about the course
How is this different from the Tajweed Mastery course?
This course is practical. It focuses on correcting your own recitation as you read, and you don't need to memorize the names and definitions of the rules. Tajweed Mastery studies the rules in full as a subject, from Tuhfah to Jazariyyah, alongside practice. Many students start here and move on to Mastery.
I learned to read as a child and picked up bad habits. Can they be fixed?
Yes. Old mistakes are fixed through repeated practice on the exact same spots. Your teacher identifies them in the first class and works on them step by step. What matters is consistency, not your age or how long the habit has been there.
What language are the classes taught in?
Classes are available in English or Arabic, and your teacher will use whichever works best for you or your child.
Are female teachers available?
Yes. We have qualified female teachers, and you choose a male or female teacher to suit you or your child. If it isn't the right match, we'll change it for free at any time.
