About the course
Start Your Hifz at Bilqalam Institute is the first step on the journey of memorizing the Qur'an, for children and adults. We begin with the short surahs every Muslim needs in salah, such as Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, the two Mu'awwidhat and Ayat al-Kursi, then move on to all of Juz Amma, starting from Surah An-Nas and working back to Surah An-Naba. Starting with the shorter surahs makes the beginning easier and gives students a real sense of progress in the first weeks. Every passage is memorized in the Hafs recitation, with correct pronunciation and the core Tajweed rules, with regular revision to keep it firm, in live one-to-one classes and a report after each class showing what was memorized and what needs revising.
How does the course work?
Classes are live and one-to-one with a Hifz teacher who follows you personally, at times that fit your schedule. In the free trial class, the teacher listens to you (or your child) recite and decides where to start and how much to memorize. Every class then follows a steady rhythm students come to rely on: reciting what was memorized, memorizing a new passage with the teacher, then revising earlier surahs, with a few closing minutes on faith and good character. The teacher sets a short portion to practice at home, and every class report is saved to your account on the site.

Who will teach you
This course is taught by male and female teachers who specialize in Qur'an memorization, and you choose the teacher who suits you or your child. If the fit isn't right, we'll switch teachers at no cost.

Questions about the course
At what age can my child start memorizing?
Children can start young. What matters is that your child can stay focused with the teacher for the length of the class. In the trial class, the teacher decides the right approach for your child's age and level.
Does my child need to read well before starting Hifz?
The teacher checks this in the trial class. If some reading foundation is needed, we'll suggest starting with Learn to Read the Qur'an, or combining reading and memorization in the same class.
How much will be memorized each class?
It varies from student to student, depending on age, ability and how many classes are taken each week. What matters most to us is that each passage is memorized firmly, not that a lot is memorized and then forgotten.
What comes after Juz Amma?
Students move on to the Complete Qur'an Hifz Program to keep memorizing juz by juz in the same way, and they can continue with the same teacher.
Is there a certificate?
Yes. When Juz Amma is complete, the teacher gives a final test on it, and once our team has reviewed the result, Bilqalam Institute issues a certificate of achievement.

The hourly rate is the same on every package, and packages differ only in monthly hours. You choose the class length: 30, 45 or 60 minutes. You start with a free 30-minute trial class, then we confirm the package that suits you.
