About the course
Islamic Studies for Kids at Bilqalam Institute helps your child get to know their deen in a way that fits their age and speaks to life in the West. It's taught through two curricula we built for our children: Bilqalam Path for Islamic education, and Adab & Akhlaaq, which takes a child from good manners with Allah to good manners with people and in modern life. Your child learns the pillars of iman and Islam, purification and salah, hears the stories of the Prophets and the Companions, and practices Muslim character in situations they meet every day. The aim is for them to love their deen, understand it and live it, not just memorize facts. Classes are live and one-to-one, with a report after every class.
How does the course work?
Your child learns in live one-to-one classes with a teacher who specializes in teaching children, at times you choose around your schedule. In the free trial class, the teacher gets to know your child and what they already know about their deen, and picks the right starting point. Each class then moves between a lesson from the curriculum, a story or activity, and a small practical takeaway your child brings home. Every class report is saved to your account on the site, so you know what your child learned and can carry the conversation on at home.

This course is for children and young teens, roughly 7 to 15, who are learning their deen in a non-Muslim environment and need someone to connect it to their daily lives.

Who will teach your child
This course is taught by male and female teachers who specialize in teaching Islamic studies to children, and you choose the teacher who suits your child. If the fit isn't right, we'll switch teachers at no cost.

Questions about the course
What language are the classes taught in?
Classes are taught in English, because both curricula are written in English for Muslim children in the West, with ayat and ahadith in their original Arabic.
Can this be combined with Qur'an classes?
Yes. Islamic studies can be added to your child's Qur'an class, or taken as a separate class, whichever suits their schedule.
My child is under 7. Is it suitable?
The curriculum is designed mainly for ages 7 to 15. With younger children, the teacher can start with stories and simple manners, and decides this in the trial class.
How do I follow my child's progress and contact the teacher?
Every student has a WhatsApp group with you, the teacher and our academic supervision team, and all communication happens there, never privately with the teacher. A report for every class is saved to the student's account on the site, so you can see what was covered and what's being practiced.
Are female teachers available?
Yes. We have qualified female teachers, and you choose a male or female teacher to suit your child. If it isn't the right match, we'll change it for free at any time.

The hourly rate is the same on every package, and packages differ only in monthly hours. You choose the class length: 30, 45 or 60 minutes. You start with a free 30-minute trial class, then we confirm the package that suits you.
